PETEY & ZORRO: First Mates
Petey was directly involved in our boat selection process & thus has lived aboard since we acquired the boat in 2000. He has spent most of his formative years on the boat & is a well traveled 1st mate. He is an accomplished sailor covering many thousands of miles in all kinds of conditions. His interests are varied but include fishing, fish cleaning, fish cooking, guarding the boat, standing his watches over the food bowls (he occasionally will even volunteer for extra watch duty), and last but not least, napping. He is a little less active these days & tends to take a supervisory role over his underling shipmate, Zorro.
Zorro joined the crew in 2009 at the ripe old age of 8 weeks. He joined up while he was wandering the Venezuelan marinas looking for work. Upon joining the crew he proceeded to make himself right at home & began enjoying all of the privileges of a seagoing feline with rank. Since growing up in the seafaring lifestyle his interests tend to be centered on water activities. He absolutely loves everything about fishing; including lure selection, casting, fish cleaning, & fish preparation. He actively watches for food items to be thrown overboard & is vigilant at all times for any unusual activity he might want to participate in. Not to forget but the napping is also very high on the list. Together these crew members make life aboard Verna Breeze much more entertaining and many times humorous.
This is the second season of chartering for Verna Breeze and they have been very busy & successful... especially for newbies (although they have been cruising for longer and are experienced sailors)! We've had difficulties booking them because their calendar is so full. This year they started offering "light/casual diving" and this has worked out quite well. Chris & Kelley are owner-operators and have a great attitude and wonderful hospitality.

Verna Breeze is a 54-foot Lazarra ketch owned and operated by Chris & Kelly Allison (with Petey & Zorro!). Verna Breeze is fully air conditioned and accommodates up to 4 guests in 2 cabins. The master guest cabin is forward with a queen berth and has an ensuite head/shower, while the other guest cabin has twin bunk beds and shares the guest head through the hallway entrance. Verna Breeze has a new 15-foot dinghy with 70HP outboard, tube, wakeboard, kneeboard, 2 kayaks, fishing equipment, snorkel gear, 2 hammocks, TV/DVD in salon, onboard WiFi, a wonderful awning for the foredeck, and much more... This is a very large 54-footer.

Kelly is a PADI Dive Instructor and Verna Breeze offers "casual" diving to certified divers. Casual means a few dives during the week, leaving plenty of time to experience other activities and relaxation. Verna Breeze is not a dive-intensive charter yacht for divers who are looking for a hard-core dive boat to do 3 or more dives per day. Divers can bring their own gear, or rent.
As of today (April 4, 2011), Verna Breeze is booked solid through May 30th. They have space for a 6-night charter May 30 through June 6, are open again June 14-24, then June 29 through July 24. They have 2 bookings in August... So, let us know soon if you'd like to join Verna Breeze for an excellent sailing vacation.
