Spain’s Atollvic Shipyard, in Vigo is to become one of the 5 major sponsors of the Superyacht Cup in 2010 marking it’s fourth year of sponsoring one of the industry’s major regattas.
Other sponsors include Clothing manufacturer: Slam, Maritime Broadband Provider, Ship-Equip, Refit Shipyard Astilleros de Mallorca and Sailcloth technology experts, Dimension Polyant.
Among the media partners are SuperYacht World and SuperYacht Business magazines.
There are two stages to the competition. The first is in Antigua which took place in January and then, during June, the action moves to Palma, Majorca. Last year eighteen superyachts took part in the three day event which saw over 500 participants sailing and more than 1,000 crew, guests and industry representatives attending the evening functions.
No changes for the 2010 event, and the format is much the same – a mix of great races and great parties starting with a glittering cocktail party on day one. This will be followed by three days of exhilarating racing, climaxing in a prize-giving evening with live music and dancing at Es Baluard Museum.
Every evening there will be themed parties held in the Regatta Village adjacent to the moored yachts. Like last year, owners and invited guests will also have the opportunity to view the fleet of superyachts and entertain their ‘neighbours’ in a yacht hop along the quayside.
The longest-running superyacht regatta in Europe, the competition is a major event in the superyacht calendar – an opportunity to enjoy sailing and fantastic social functions in a relaxed and friendly environment.
