Bermuda will if things go as planned will get its first superyacht Marina some twenty years after it was first muted
As a result of a presentation in July by Bermuda developers Leading Edge Ltd (LEL) of a conceptual design of a marina and hotel followed by several months of discussion the Corporation of St George’s have entered into an agreement with to pursue a partnership and further investigate and develop this proposal of a marina and boutique hotel in the port of St George’s.
The marina, will cater to both local and visiting yachts and the growing superyacht business. Captain Mark Soares of Bermuda Yacht Services (BYS) has been working with the Corporation over the past two years to expand the super yacht business in St George’s and will assist LEL in this development.
The marina will expand greatly on the facilities that currently exist for the dockage of superyachts in the port. The new marina will accommodate in excess of 100 yachts and boats.
The idea of a marina near the town centre has been talked about over many years and was part of the St George’s Heritage Plan. The marina will help protect our water side buildings and the town centre which has always been vulnerable to hurricanes. It will move the town forward in offering the facilities that the hundreds of visiting yachts have been requesting as well as providing berths for locals.
