Bankie Banx Moonsplash 2010 - Anguilla

Bankie Banx is proud to present Moonsplash 2010 at The Dune Preserve on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, March 25-28, 2010.

Moonsplash 2010 marks the 20th staging of the festival, billed as “The Eastern Caribbean’s Premier Reggae and World Music Festival.”  Headlining artists for 2010 includes a bountiful selection of reggae talent, ranging from cutting edge to founding legends.

Moonsplash will kick off on Thursday, March 25th with the arrival of  headline artists and live performances at the Beach Stage. With parties around the clock beginning on Thursday and continuing through Sunday evening.

Friday night's performances, Reggae Night, will feature Benjy Myaz, Jah Cure and the Moonsplash 20th Anniversary Awards.

Saturday night, also known as Legends Night, will feature Gregory Isaacs, John Holt, Marcia Griffith, Sugar Minott and, of course, Bankie Banx and his Allstar Band.

Moonsplash greats including Sherriff Bob and Junior Jazz, Cat Coore and Tony Ruption will also be in attendance, along with Moonsplash Allstars Onaje Allan Gumbs, and Corey Stoot.

We attended the Jimmy Buffett concert a couple of years ago at the Dune Preserve. We anchored in Road Bay, Anguilla and had a wonderful time.  The Dune Preserve is an excellent, open air venue.

Charter Yacht BLITHE SPIRIT visits St Martin

While on our way to buy yet again another necessary widget of some sort for our boat at Budget Marine in St. Maarten, a couple in a dinghy zips over to us.

Wow, it's Dominique and Michel from one of our favorite charter yachts, BLITHE SPIRIT. We both turned off our engines and chatted for quite awhile about this and that while drifting around the bit of the lagoon between the marine stores and Simpson Bay Marina.

It was so nice to see them and to catch up on things.

This is one reason why we, Paradise Connections Yacht Charters, are different from other brokers. We live aboard our own sailboat in the Caribbean, so we frequently see the charter yachts, shoot the breeze, and hear the gossip! We plan to sail up to Newport for the charter show and hang out in that area for the summer which will be very interesting, as well. Most brokers would prefer a 747 but we're different and want to sail the thousand-plus miles.

Blithe Spirit is making its way down to the Grenadines for the summer where they will be available for charter through about July 24, 2009. Then they will return from their summer vacation and start chartering again the beginning of November. They have a New Year's charter in the Grenadines so they will stay south through the beginning of January and then they are booked in mid February in the Virgin Islands. So, for January and the first part of February you have your choice of either the Grenadines (or possibly other islands on their way back up to the VIs such as the French islands, Antigua, or St. Martin) or the Virgin Islands.


Blithe Spirit is a 52-foot Irwin ketch owned & operated by Michel and Dominique, a Canadian couple who used to have an Inn in Quebec & a televised cooking program in Canada. They are certainly not strangers to good hospitality and I LOVE Dominique's Chocolate Mousse!!!

Blithe Spirit is fully air conditioned and accommodates up to 4 guests in 2 cabins. Excellent yacht for couples or families.

Charter Catamaran AMARYLLIS - Jimmy Buffett sighting

We just received an email from the charter catamaran AMARYLLIS. We recently had a very happy charter aboard Amaryllis and we'll be posting their comments soon, but in the meantime, here's some news from this excellent charter yacht:

JIMMY BUFFETT SIGHTING AT WHITE BAY!

March came in like a lion and went out with a blast! St. Paddies at 'Sir' Foxy's, Jimmy Buffett at White Bay, St. John Blues Festival in Coral Bay, and the usual great sailing, hikes, beach bars, etc. We had two 'parrotheads' on charter who were down here for a Margaritaville experience. They were sitting in front of the Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay and saw Jimmy Buffett standing about 25 feet from them, blending in with the beach crowd. He obliged them with a picture, at which point the buzz went down the beach, "That's Jimmy Buffett!' and he made a speedy getaway. We joked that we had to pull some strings to make their vacation really special! But the bottom line is, you can't beat a Virgin Islands charter for a great vacation.

FAMILY DISCOUNT

We are offering 'one child free' so a family of four can charter AMARYLLIS for a week for $9,000, all-inclusive. This is a very competitive price and a good value for Mom and Dad. We've had a great season so far with families, couples, and singles. We will be available for charter through August 15th and will be back.

Amaryllis is a 45-foot Privilege catamaran, owned and operated by Bruce & Laura Masterson, and accommodates up to 6 guests. Please note that Amaryllis is a non-smoking yacht. We spent quite a bit of time aboard Amaryllis with Bruce & Laura last November when we were in St. Thomas and we hope to see them again when we pass through next month. Bruce is a sailing instructor and offers informal training, plus he also teaches windsurfing.

Amaryllis will be available for charter through mid-August in USVI, BVI, St. Maarten or Antigua.

DAY 1:

DAY 2:
After breakfast, take a short cruise and spend the morning swimming and snorkeling along the protected cliffs in Little Bay. Late morning, depart for Prickly Pear Cay for lunch and swimming. Mid-afternoon, raise anchor for a cruise to Pinel Island, French St Martin and Orient Bay for overnight anchorage.

DAY 3:
Take a morning cruise over to Tintamarre where you will drop anchor for island exploring, great snorkeling & a mud bath excursion. Mid-afternoon, cruise to Gustavia, St Barths for sightseeing & shopping and spend the night on the hook here.

DAY 4:
After breakfast, short cruise to Anse de Colombier for a day spent hiking, swimming & snorkeling with an overnight anchorage here.

DAY 5:
EL JEFE returns to St Maarten for the 9:30 am inbound bridge into Simpson Bay Lagoon and docks at Portofino Marina for guest departure.

RATE: US$40,000 for 4-night charter for up to 10 guests

Charter fee includes:
Diesel fuel for 3 hours cruising and generator(s), Gasoline for 15' Caribe tender/Personal watercraft, Chef’s Menu, Standard Ship's Bar, Non-alcoholic beverages, Landing fees for Pick up/Drop off, Unlimited use of tenders/waverunners, water toys.
