Andrew Weir Yacht Management has unveiled a series of services for yacht owners that capitalises on the company's wealth of experience in managing commercial vessels. As part of Andrew Weir Shipping, which has been active for over 120 years, the company has already been successfully managing Christina O for five years.
Andrew Weir Yacht Management says it is in a good position to service the yacht market. "We're not coming in brand new. We're bringing a lot of experience into the yacht world," says Managing Director Steve Corkhill.
With the pending introduction of new regulations affecting superyachts – particularly the Maritime Labour Convention – the company believes it is in a prime position to offer the sort of services that will increasingly be in demand. "Where the rules and regs are beginning to change, we come into our own," says Corkhill. "We have already been working with Lloyd's Register who are looking at how they'll apply the MLC requirements. So we are ahead of the game."
Its yacht management services, which include yacht and crew management, insurance and project management, are offered on a fixed-fee basis.
